Are your students needing some safe in-person interaction with peers after a long day of e-learning? Drama showcases will give them a creative outlet for their artistic energy while maintaining safe social distance practices. Students will learn about character development, acting, and dancing while working on scenes from popular movies and musicals. A final showcase will be recorded and emailed after the conclusion of the class term.

Pick your best day of the week! Classes held most weekdays. Students will develop their drama skills as they work on scenes from popular movies and musicals like Moana, Madagascar, and more! A final showcase recorded for family and friends on Zoom will conclude the class term.

Hamilton Celebration
Hamilton dropping on Disney+ was a summer highlight for us all. Learn all about how history became hip hop as you explore behind-the-scenes footage, learn about the creation process from inception to cultural phenomenon, and try your hand at some of the music and moves. Can you rap as fast as Lafayette?

Students will learn about character development, acting, and dancing while working on material from everyone’s favorite hip-hop historical tale about the “Ten Dollar Founding Father.” A final showcase will be recorded and emailed after the conclusion of the class term.

Adult Improv 101 with Kathryn Carlsen- VIRTUAL
This course is all about the joy of jumping in and finding the funny. Listening, saying “yes, and,” collaborating, and being adaptable are key elements to being a great improviser and person. We will work on making you more comfortable with thinking on your feet and speaking publicly through fun exercises and games. Upon class request, a final showcase may conclude the session.

Instructor Biography
Kathryn Carlsen has been teaching theatre since 2004. She graduated from UMCP with a degree in Secondary Theatre and English Education and from Brooklyn College with a Masters in Performing Arts Management. Since 2006, she has been a performer with the Baltimore Improv Group as well as a teacher in BIG University. She has taught
improvisation and communication workshops at UMCP School of Business and Johns Hopkins Medical School. She has performed at the Studio Theatre, Theatre Project, Creative Alliance, Mercury Theatre in Baltimore as well at festivals in DC,North Carolina, Philadelphia, Austin, New York, and Chicago.
