class policies

  • All tuition payments are non-refundable. In the event of a class withdrawal, a credit towards a future program may be issued ONLY if the student’s slot is filled by someone else. Credits are valid for the subsequent season. If payment is not made in full at the time of registration, a 50% deposit is required to secure space in a program. Payment plans are at the discretion of the DLC staff. All balances are due 3 weeks prior to the start date of class (or June 1 for summer camps.)

  • All class withdrawals are subject to a 15% administrative fee (minimum of $35) which will be taken out of the credit available towards a future program. Any changes or late registrations that occur within a week of the class start date are also subject to a 15% administrative fee. THERE IS A FEE OF $35 FOR ANY RETURNED CHECKS.

  • Due to limited seating, all ticket sales are final. The house opens 15 minutes prior to curtain for seating and the box office opens one hour prior to curtain for door sales. We reserve the right to sell any unclaimed seats after scheduled start time of performance. Late seating is at the discretion of the house manager and your seating assignment is not guaranteed. If you are unable to attend the show, please alert the box office as soon as possible. Your tickets can be transferred to another performance only if your tickets are sold to another patron.

  • Due to the nature of theatrical classes and productions, attendance is mandatory for all classes except in the event of illness, emergency, or previously scheduled conflict. Please email dlc@dramalearningcenter.com prior to registration if you foresee a class conflict so that it can be reviewed with the class instructor. If conflicts arise after a class has begun, please communicate with the instructor directly. In cases of excessive absence, instructors have the discretion to reassign roles.

  • Students may not be dropped off for production classes, camps, or workshops more than 15 minutes prior to start time unless enrolled in extended care. Parents and guardians must sign in students at drop off. Approved pick-up persons for any student must be submitted by the start of the first class, workshop, or camp day. All approved pick-up persons must show a government-issued picture identification every class day prior to their student being dismissed. Students should be picked up no more than 15 minutes after the end of classes, camps, or workshops unless enrolled in extended care. If someone other than an approved pick-up person will be picking up a student, an email must be sent to the class director and dlc@dramalearningcenter.com prior to the start of class.

  • Parents, siblings and guests may not accompany students to class. This is to ensure a safe and focused environment for all students. Please let DLC know in advance of your first class if your student has a one-to-one assistant or if you need help requesting a one-to-one assistant for your child.

  • We do not follow the Howard County School District inclement weather policy. In the case of facility closure due to inclement weather or travel conditions, an email will be sent, a recorded message will be left at our box office line at 410-997-9352, and updates will be posted to Drama Learning Center’s social media accounts at least 2 hours prior to any scheduled activity.

  • Each student is required to bring the following materials to each class:

    1. Pencil and highlighter

    2. 3-ring binder

    3. Closed-toed shoes (no flip flops or crocs)

    4. Comfortable clothing

    5. Bottled water

    6. Nut-free snack

    For performance-based classes, students may be asked to provide basic costume pieces from home such as shoes, pants, etc. and this information will be shared well in advance of the production dates.

  • Teachers will use email as a primary form of communication and will send home important notices and updates on class progress weekly through email. If this is not an effective way to get in contact with you, please let the office know. If you do not receive a welcome email from the office at least a day prior to the beginning of a class or camp, please contact the office by phone at 410-997-9352.

  • By participating in programs at Drama Learning Center, your child’s image may be used in marketing and promotional materials. Please notate on your registration form or email the office at dlc@dramalearningcenter.com if you do not wish for your child’s image to be used.

  • Parents/Guardians of students who require medication during a class, camp, or workshop must complete additional paperwork so that medication can be properly administered. You can find the Medical Administration Authorization Form in our Resource Center or email the office at dlc@dramalearningcenter.com for more details.
