There’s some more exciting news coming to DLC camps this Summer! Drama Learning Center is partnering with The Original Production to be the first arts education organization to use their materials in order to teach the original Broadway choreography for our 3-week Legally Blonde, Jr. Production Camp!
What Does This Mean?
We’ve been selected to participate in a Pilot Program that enables our teaching staff the resources and rights to teach the original Broadway choreography for our summer production of Legally Blonde, Jr. Enhance your dance skills by learning TONY Award-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell’s original choreography. Campers and teaching artists will have access to videos with each number and step broken down for every experience level. We’re excited to be the first program in the area to be able to offer this unique opportunity to our students.
About Legally Blonde on Broadway
Based on the feature film by the same name, Legally Blonde opened on April 29, 2007 at Broadway’s Palace Theatre and ran for 595 performances. The musical comedy follows peppy, pink-loving protagonist Elle Woods as she follows her dreams from the Delta Nu sorority house in Southern California to the hallowed halls of Harvard Law School only to see her dreams change in the process. Legally Blonde received seven TONY Award nominations (including one for Jerry Mitchell’s choreography).
About Legally Blonde, Jr. at DLC
Campers grades 6-12 will perform in this musical while working as a theatrical team. This three-week camp meets and performs at nearby Howard High School, giving campers the opportunity to perform on a larger stage. In addition to rehearsing for the show participating in four final performances, campers will learn new theatre skills, play related drama games, and enjoy a field trip to Shadowland Laser Tag.
