Camp of the Month – April

The race to Summer is officially upon us, and our Summer Drama Camps are filling quickly. Regardless of your family’s summer plans, we’re open and available when you need us!

This April, the spotlight shines on…

Frozen Adventures! This camp for students in Grades K-5 meets July 2-6 (no camp on July 4th). If you need to escape the heat, all your favorite residents of Arendelle are excited to take you on an adventure. Join us for this fun week of camp learning about your favorite characters and singing their songs. Related crafts and activities will enhance the session, and a final showcase will conclude the week. This camp is usually $265, but when you register this month and use the code COTM418, you’ll get $25 off!

Summer Camp Spotlight

The time has come to shine the spotlight on yet another fun-filled Summer Camp session in store this year. Did you know that Drama Learning Center offers programs all summer long for campers aged 3-18? No matter your age or interest, there’s truly something for everyone this Summer! Today, we’re talking about…

Annie KIDS (July 9-20)

It’s the hard knock life for us! Everyone’s favorite orphan returns to the DLC stage in a one act show that’s sure to make the sun come out this summer. Campers will improve their acting, singing, and dancing skills as they work together as a theatrical team. Camp culminates in two final performances!

Annie has been captivating audiences and actors alike for generations. Whether you’re enamored with 1982 “Annie” or groove with 2014 “Annie,” your budding star is sure to have a blast in this camp. Here’s what you need to know about this session:

  • Dates: July 9 – July 20
  • Time: 9 am – 3 pm (extended care available 7 am – 6 pm for an additional fee)
  • Tuition: $685*

*Register by February 15th at 11:59 pm to get $100 off tuition with our Doorbuster Discount before it expires!

BONUS: Check out this vintage shot of Annie at DLC from over 10 years ago featuring Drama Learning Center Artistic Director, Ms. Stephanie Williams (far left) and Teaching Artist Ms. Amy Williamson as Ms. Hannigan. Annie is a bonafide hit at Drama Learning Center every time we produce it, but this was the first!

*Helpful Hint: Annie may split into two separate sections divided by age based on enrollment. Students grades K-2 might be in a different group than students grades 3-5.

Check out Annie KIDS and the rest of our Summer Drama Camps today! Register now while you still have your choice of sessions and can save up to $100 off camp.

Winter Workshop Topics in the News

We love getting to explore topical subjects for our School’s Out Drama Workshops. These are a great opportunity for students to learn what it’s like to be at Drama Learning Center for a day– learning songs and dances, having fun with arts and crafts, and learning from our fun and engaging staff of teaching artists. This Winter’s lineup of workshop topics is definitely ripped from the headlines!

  1. Star Wars Hero Training Camp: This Winter Break, we’re exploring a different dynamic duo from the Star Wars franchise just in time for the release of The Last Jedi. Check out this definitive ranking of all 9 ‘Star Wars’ movies from USA Today. Join us from December 26-29 (either for a day or all 4) as we train heroes just like Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and more. Check out the whole lineup here.
  2. Olaf’s Frozen Adventure: Disney/Pixar tacked on a 20-minute Olaf ‘short’ to the beginning of new animated feature Coco, and it was a controversial move. Find out what some people thought about it in ‘Coco’ Director Says ‘No Lessons Learned’ from ‘Frozen’ Short recently published on HuffPost. Did you see the short? We always have a little bit of “Frozen Fever” here at DLC, and we’re going to be celebrating all things Olaf on Monday, January 15 for our first School’s Out Workshop of 2018. Register today here.
  3. Tangled: We’ve been loving that Rapunzel has gotten more story time with the launch of Tangled: The Series. Have you been watching the new television series? Check out this recent review of “Queen for a Day,” which takes place after the events of Tangled but before the Tangled Ever After short. Our Tangled-themed School’s Out Workshop will be held Friday, February 16. We hope to see you there! Register for it here.
  4. Nicktoons: Here at DLC HQ, we practically grew up on ’90s Nicktoons, so we’re glad that they’re experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Check out this recently-published list of 43 Behind the Scenes Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Your Favorite ’90s Nicktoons on Buzzfeed. We’re celebrating Nicktoons on Wednesday, February 19. Register for that School’s Out Drama Workshop today.
