Dance Masterclasses Start Soon!

School’s Out days at Drama Learning Center aren’t just for elementary students anymore. Middle and High School students can work on building and refining their dance skills with our Spring School’s Out Masterclass Series! Morning and afternoon sessions give older students the ultimate flexibility to pop in for half a day or work on their skills for the entire day.

Come learn combinations from original Broadway productions of Chicago, A Chorus Line, Cabaret, and West Side Story. We have two School’s Out days this Spring when Howard County Public Schools are scheduled to be closed:

  • Monday, April 17th
  • Friday, May 19th

Register for one ($40), two ($60 using code FULLDAY), or all four ($100 using code FULLSERIES). Students who opt to take both masterclasses in one day will have a supervised lunch break in between sessions.

Snow Day Workshops

For the third consecutive year, DLC will offer workshops on days when Howard County Public Schools unexpectedly close due to incldement weather. If the roads are passable, we will be open. Do you want to be on the list to be notified when we are holding Snow Day School’s Out Workshops? You must opt-in using the form below! We will only contact you when we are open for Snow Day Workshops.

Here’s how it works:

We will email you as soon as Howard County Public Schools make a determination about school closings and we’re able to determine whether or not roads are passable. Workshops are held from 10 AM – 4 PM for students grades K-5. Tuition will be payable online or in person when you drop off your child(ren). Pricing is $55 for the first student and $20 for additional siblings. Our engaging staff will lead students through supervised drama games, arts & crafts, and fun. Extended care may be available based on the weather conditions and staff availability. The email notification you receive from us will clearly state whether or not extended care is available that day.

Meet the Guest Artist

We’re excited to welcome Sarah Pencheff as a Guest Artist in Residence this summer during our Cosplay Creations camp in July!

Sarah Pencheff is a NYC-based Costume Designer, Special Effects Make-up artist, and Certified Cosplay Enthusiast.  Sarah regularly attends New York Comic Con, and nearly always starts building her cosplay at the absolutely last possible minute.  In 2015, her Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy) Cosplay made it onto the Rotten Tomatoes Best of NYCC blog (twice!).  Other favorites include Andrea from “The Walking Dead” (comic book version, of course!), Julie Winters from “The Maxx” (proof that you can cosplay with just your own wardrobe and a pair of scissors), and being bodypainted as Batman V. Superman.  Her ultimate cosplay goal is to build a screen accurate Battlestar Galactica flight suit.  In addition to creating cosplay ensembles, Sarah has also created several original characters for stage and new media productions.

Please join us in welcoming Sarah as a visiting DLC Teaching Artist. Students in the Cosplay Creations camp will learn about costume design and creation, special effects make up, and character development. Whether you’re prepping for a local convention or for Ren-Fest, Ms. Sarah and the rest of the staff will be sure to help you shine at your next appearance! Cosplay Creations camp runs July 25-29, and is open to students in grades 6-12. Registration is currently open until the session fills. Secure your spot today!

UPDATE: Ms. Sarah Pencheff will officially return in 2017 to lead our Cosplay Creations campers in another great session of costume creation. Register today to secure your spot in this highly popular camp.
