Artistic Director Workshop

*NEW OPPORTUNITY for Students Grades 3-9*

Students who are interested in committing to their theatre studies have a unique opportunity to apply for DLC’s first ever Artistic Director Workshop. This workshop will conclude with the DLC premiere of Disney’s The Lion King, under the direction of Ms. Stephanie Lynn Williams, Artistic Director of Drama Learning Center. Mr. Dustin Merrell will serve as music director. This program will conclude in 4 final performances. The emphasis of this program would be DLC’s ensemble theatre philosophy, and expanding theatre skills in a fast-paced environment.

How to apply:

  1. Review class and show dates below to confirm availability
  2. Register for The Lion King production class of your choice to secure your spot in a DLC Fall program.
  3. Email DLC@dramalearningcenter.com with a letter of interest stating why you think you would be a good member of this inaugural program. Please also include any conflicts with the rehearsal period, and list a previous director as a reference (name and contact information)
  4. Applicants will be notified of their status by September 1st, and student & tuition will be transferred from Production Class to Artistic Director Workshop
Mondays 5:00-7:30pm  
September 11 – October 16 
PLUS Thursdays 5-7:30pm: September 14-October 19
(No class 9/28)
Dress rehearsals: October 22-26, 5-8:30pm
Final performances: October 27 & 28 at 7:30pm, October 29 at 3pm

About the Directors

Ms. Stephanie’s professional theatre work spans nearly two decades, and her directing and acting work has been hailed by critics and audiences alike. She has been the director for all Teaching Young Artists (TYA) mainstage productions since 2006, and some of her favorite directing accomplishments have been with the TYA professional training program.
 
Mr. Dustin is a DLC student favorite. He has music directed for TYA Junior Company and Summer Intensive as well as throughout the area at Red Branch Theatre Company, Howard Community College, Atholton High School, and Imagination Stage among others. He maintains an active private voice studio at Drama Learning Center.
